Payments & Reports
A payment handoff checklist for shift changes
Payment handoff should reduce questions for the next team, not create another report to chase.

Start with open questions
At shift change, ask what payment questions are still open. This is faster than asking the next team to rediscover them.
Review retries and changed methods
If a payment was retried or changed to another method, leave the context clear. The next person should know what happened and whether follow-up is needed.
Check transaction context
Transaction review gives managers a more specific place to look when a payment question appears. Keep the handoff tied to transaction context, not memory.
Separate service issues from payment issues
Some handoff notes are about the guest experience; others are about the payment record. Split them so the right person can act.
Close with ownership
Every open payment question needs an owner. If nobody owns it, it becomes tomorrow's confusion.
