Accept a Contactless Payment

Summary

Accept a contactless payment from the Selio order flow, so the customer can tap and the payment can return cleanly into the restaurant workflow.

Before you begin

  • Make sure the order is ready for payment
  • Use a supported Android device
  • Confirm the partner SoftPOS flow is active and ready
  • Make sure staff understands that the tap happens on the Android device through the partner payment flow

Steps

  1. Open the order that is ready for payment in Selio.
  2. Start the card or contactless payment flow.
  3. Let Selio hand off the payment step to the partner SoftPOS environment on the Android device.
  4. Ask the customer to tap their card, phone, or watch.
  5. Wait for the payment result to complete.
  6. Return to the Selio flow automatically or as prompted.
  7. Confirm the order is marked as paid or updated correctly inside Selio.

Troubleshooting

  • The customer taps but nothing happens: Recheck the device readiness and partner payment flow status.
  • The payment does not return to Selio correctly: Confirm the payment result completed and recheck the order state.
  • The customer wants to use another method instead: Stop and switch to the correct payment path before finalizing the order.
  • The customer asks for refund handling: Refunds are outside the Selio Tap to Pay documentation scope and must follow the partner procedure.
