Redeem a Gift Card

Summary

Redeem a gift card during checkout so stored value can be applied correctly to the customer’s order.

Before you begin

  • Make sure the gift card already exists and is valid for use
  • Confirm the order is ready for payment
  • Check that the user has access to gift card payment actions
  • Make sure the team knows how to identify the correct gift card before applying it

Steps

  1. Open the order that is ready for payment.
  2. Start the gift card redemption or gift card payment action.
  3. Search for, enter, or scan the gift card details.
  4. Review the gift card information before applying it.
  5. Apply the gift card value to the order.
  6. Review the updated amount due.
  7. Complete any remaining payment flow if the gift card does not cover the full order total.

Troubleshooting

  • The gift card cannot be found: Recheck the card details and confirm the card exists.
  • The gift card does not apply: Confirm the card is active and eligible for use in the current flow.
  • The remaining total looks wrong: Review the order total and the applied gift card value carefully.
  • Staff is unsure what to do when the gift card does not cover the full bill: Continue with the next allowed payment method for the remaining balance.
