Summary
Use the Selio KDS states NEW, HOLD, FIRED, and DONE to understand where each order or course is in the kitchen flow.
Before you begin
- Confirm the KDS screen is connected and receiving assigned orders
- Make sure the team knows the fixed labels: NEW, HOLD, FIRED, DONE
- Use a test order or course to show the transition from Hold to Fired to Done
- Remember that states can apply per order and per course
Steps
- Open Selio KDS and review the active tickets.
- Identify tickets in NEW state.
- Use HOLD when the order or course should wait.
- Move the order or course to FIRED when production should start.
- Move the order or course to DONE when it is complete.
- Confirm NEW, HOLD, FIRED, and DONE are visible on the KDS screen or prep station.
- Repeat the same state language during training so staff use one shared workflow.
Troubleshooting
- Staff use different words for the same state: Anchor training to the fixed labels NEW, HOLD, FIRED, and DONE.
- A course and full order seem different: Confirm whether the action is being applied to the course or the full order.
- A state is not visible: Check the KDS screen or prep station where that ticket is assigned.
- The team skips states: Re-train the Hold -> Fired -> Done transition before live service.
