Summary
View new orders from POS, kiosk, delivery, third-party delivery, and QR ordering sources, then work through them oldest first unless a ticket is prioritized.
Before you begin
- Confirm the KDS screen is assigned to the relevant prep station
- Confirm the expected source can create test orders
- Turn on sound where the kitchen relies on incoming-order alerts
- Know that older tickets can turn yellow, orange, then red as they age
Steps
- Open the KDS screen for the assigned prep station.
- Watch for new tickets from POS, kiosk, delivery, third-party delivery, or QR orders.
- Read the table grouping, order name, and course name on the ticket.
- Work tickets oldest first unless a ticket needs to be prioritized.
- Use the prioritize control to move an urgent order to the first ticket position.
- React to incoming-order sounds and age colors: yellow, orange, then red as orders get older.
- Take action quickly so delayed tickets do not remain hidden in the live flow.
Troubleshooting
- New orders do not appear: Check prep-station assignment, source order, routing, and device connection.
- Orders appear too late: Review network quality and whether the ticket was assigned to the station.
- Staff miss new orders during rush: Check sound, screen placement, and ticket-age colors.
- The wrong table or course appears: Verify the source order and course data before changing KDS setup.
